rock climbing to beat the heat

It's 101 degrees out today, but not in here. The kids are taking a rock climbing class this summer at REI downtown, and today's their very first day. Here, Lily's making it to the top of the wall and ringing the bell on her first try! She's quite good at it, cause she's built so long and strong.

Cool night

Lovely picture of the city tonight. Stopped off my bike on the way home to cool my feet. It may be a toxic river, but it's a pretty river.

Waiting for the Hawthorne Bridge

The bridge is up. Lovely day to look over the river, though.

Best shots from Canada

Nigel learns to RIDE!

Well, he's been playing with it for a few weeks, but tonight cemented the deal, and our Nigelboy finally locked in the ultimate kid-skill of learning to ride a bike: starting, riding, and stopping on his own. He rode two blocks without stopping, and our camera phones were there to capture it LIVE and bring it to YOU!

Green bags in the grocery stores

So this Canadian Superstore has this green shopping cab initiative. For 99 cents, you can buy this bag made of recycled pop bottles and reduce the number of plastic bags going into the landfills. Great idea.
